This is an incredibly interesting article! The real-life examples are really well-picked and help to understand the technology. I love what you say about this technology being an example of tech-goggles and I completely agree. I personally do not think that this is a problem for which we should turn to technology, mainly for the reasons that you stated about lack of consent and detriments on mental health. I also find the entire concept a bit dehumanizing. You did a great job of making the ethical issues in this project clear.
